Access to health services

Every person has the right to free access to health benefits according to the General Health Law (Art. 1). Migrants, regardless of their immigration status, can access medical care in public and private establishments. People who do not have health insurance must bear the cost of their care at the health facility of their choice.

For medical guidance in general and also related to the coronavirus, the free line 113 has been made available to all people from any fixed or mobile telephone operator 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Check Option 2: if you want information about COVID-19 or report suspected cases.

People who do not have other health insurance and are in conditions of poverty, extreme poverty or are pregnant mothers, children under 5 years of age, firefighters, among others, may join the Comprehensive Health Insurance - Free SIS for which A current DNI or Immigration Card is required, to be registered in the General Household Register and must have the corresponding socioeconomic classification or document that proves any of the conditions. In the case of homeless people who were not accredited by the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, as well as non-resident Peruvians, foreigners, and others, who are in national territory, who do not have health insurance, and who die with a diagnosis or suspicion of coronavirus COVID-19, the SIS will finance the expenses of funeral services for cremation or burial.
